A strong correlation was observed between ZnO nanowire tip diameter and Au catalyst size, with no apparent lower limit to the size of Au nanoparticles able to catalyze nanowire growth. All ZnO nanowires produced intense ultraviolet photoluminescence with almost no visible defect band emission that is commonly observed in ZnO-based materials, including nanowires. A correlation was also observed between the quality of the ultraviolet photoluminescence (in terms of decreasing exciton line widths and surface-related emission) and decreasing ZnO nanowire diameter, with the highest quality emission obtained using Au9 atomically precise cluster catalysts, used here as catalysts for ZnO growth for the first time.]]> Wed 26 Oct 2022 12:23:34 AEDT ]]> Salinity-fluctuation alters phycoremediation capacity of lead by Spirulina platensis https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:52746 Spirulina platensis under different environmental condition (including salinity) has not yet been investigated. Hence, this study aims to examine the phycoremediation capacity of Pb by S. platensis at different levels of salinity. S. platensis was exposed to Pb (4 mg/L) at different levels of salinity (up to 30 ppt) for 12 days. The results indicated that salinity fluctuation was able to reduce phycoremediation capacity of Pb. The highest removal efficiency of Pb was observed in optimum salinity and decreased significantly both in lower and higher salinity treatments. Physiological disturbances in S. platensis were indicated by changes in functional groups and morphology. The morphology of Spirulina platensis both in lower and higher salinity treatments appeared to have changed its shape, resembling a disjointed thread with fading color.]]> Wed 25 Oct 2023 14:58:33 AEDT ]]> Body size, growth and life span: implications for the polewards range shift of Octopus tetricus in South-Eastern Australia https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:16080 Wed 11 Apr 2018 13:22:55 AEST ]]> The Ernesto Cave, northern Italy, as a candidate auxiliary reference section for the definition of the Anthropocene series https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:50135 Tue 04 Jul 2023 14:02:38 AEST ]]> Basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma growth rates and determinants of size in community patients https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:21486 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:03:35 AEDT ]]> Grazing constants are not constant: microzooplankton grazing is a function of phytoplankton production in an Australian lagoon https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:22529 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:15:40 AEDT ]]> The Properties of Annually Laminated Stalagmites-A Global Synthesis https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:46284 Mon 14 Nov 2022 15:48:51 AEDT ]]>
